Basis Point
A unit equal to one hundredth of a percent
A basis point (bp) equals 0.01 percentage point, so 100bp is 1 percentage point. Saying a rate rose "25bp" instead of "0.25%" is common in finance because it states small rate changes precisely, without confusion.
